Ellen Burchenal is an artist who works in drawing and painting.

An instructor at the Maryland Institute College of Art, she is also coordinator of the MICA Italy Travel Intensive Program and visiting faculty in residence at the MICA@SACI program in Florence, Italy. Burchenal received her BA from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut and her MFA from The Mount Royal School of Art at MICA. The recipient of several Maryland State Arts Council Fellowships, an AIA Honors Award, and an NEA Artist Residency, Burchenal has exhibited and lectured in galleries and universities throughout the region, in Japan and in Italy. In 2013 her solo exhibition Sorrento Again opened at the Jules Maidoff Gallery in Florence, and traveled to the Villa Fiorentino in Sorrento, Italy.
